A Feminist Soliloquy

I’m s l o w l y making my way through Roxane Gay’s Bad Feminist since Christmas. It’s one of the first two books I’m reading for personal pleasure. While it is entirely worth it, however, Gay organized the chapters in a disjointed, but thematically, related way. It’s only a more notiecable issue when her succinct, sharp and material writing transforms into short-form book reviews.

I find myself bored when references aren’t relatable, but nodding my head in steady agreement with many other topics like her chapter about the insanity of “rape culture,” high expectations, Scrabble and so on. There’s even some material on Thornton Dial that an art historian would swoon over.

Nab the book and read it with me. I’m on page 137, chapter: “What We Hunger For.”
